Statement on Equity, Diversity and Inclusion

Childhood Cancer Survivor Canada (CCSC) is committed to fostering and supporting equity, diversity and inclusion. This includes a commitment to achieving a balanced Board of Directors, staff and volunteers that reflects the broadest range of qualifications, skills, experiences, perspectives and the spectrum of human identities essential to advancing our vision and mission. We believe that a diverse community working in an atmosphere of inclusion will produce better, more innovative decisions, position us as an equity, diversity and inclusion leader across Canada, and increase our capacity to effectively address and serve the interests of Canada’s diverse survivor community. The purpose of this statement is to express the commitment of CCSC to achieve a membership that is balanced, diverse and inclusive, and that incorporates a strong balance of experiences and perspectives. In addition to working to enrich both skills level and diverse representation through organization appointments, Childhood Cancer Survivor Canada will abide by its commitment to promote equity, diversity and inclusion in the performance of its duties and responsibility for oversight of our governance.

To give effect to this statement, the CCSC within its processes for identifying potential directors, staff and volunteers, will search for highly-skilled potential candidates who reflect the diversity of Canadian society, having particular regard to underrepresented groups. Furthermore, and most integral to our mission and vision, we proudly welcome survivors of all backgrounds, identities, abilities and philosophies to take part fully in all public services, activities, events, Our Board will periodically review our recruitment policies and any related practices and procedures to ensure alignment with best practices and principles for diverse recruitment.

Furthermore, at CCSC, we celebrate diversity of race, culture, gender, sexual orientation and worldview and therefore warmly welcome survivors of all backgrounds, identities, abilities, and cultures. It is both our privilege and our responsibility to represent the diversity and totality of the survivor community.
